We do not compensate Host providers for day services provided in the home, nor do we bill for such services through the HCS program. In a select few extreme circumstances, we would have to get pre-authorization from HHSC.

I have been out of work for a while and don’t have a lot of extra funds to help my loved one with special purchases, including clothing, etc. Will your company help to ensure my loved one’s most important needs are met?

If the family of an individual cannot assist with such additional expenses such as clothing, we will pool our resources to help ensure that each individual has adequate clothing. We will also help with a holiday gift, and occasional outings if the individual cannot afford them with their own finances.

We absolutely encourage the individuality and creativity of everyone we serve. We understand that we must support and facilitate creative and recreational interests, and that sometimes means we must put some extra effort into assisting individuals with unique activities. My loved one is fairly high functioning, and many people cannot even tell there is any disability. How can your staff tailor their interactions with my loved one to avoid being accidentally insulting, stereotyping, or otherwise treat my loved one the same as all other loved ones at your company?

We provide significant orientation and ongoing training to ensure that all of our staff are familiar with the special needs of the individuals we serve. Typically those needs involve increased intervention by the staff due to an advanced need. However, the same attention will be paid to individuals who have less or minimal such needs

My loved one is mostly independent in grooming and hygiene, but needs some assistance that is consistent, but not intrusive or offensive to my loved one. How will your company provide this delicate balance between ensuring my loved one’s grooming and hygiene needs are met without seeming too controlling or “parental”?

My loved one has frequent constipation, and I am worried about bowel impactions. How will your company monitor my loved one’s bathroom usage to prevent from dangerous impactions?

We will implement a bowel movement record for any individual who has a history or diagnosis of chronic constipation. The use of this system requires the staff to supervise toileting, and at a minimum, visually note the toileting outcome in order to document that outcome on the record.
